Pescado Empapelado Ingredients

  • fish steak
  • 3-5 banana leaves, washed and dried
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 1 serrano chile or jalapeño
  • 10 cilantro leaves
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/4 of a white onion
  • olive oil
  • 1 lime

How to Make Pescado Empapelado - Step by Step

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F

  2. Rinse the fish fillets under cold running water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  3. Place the banana leaves on a flat surface and brush them with olive oil. Put a fish fillet in the center of each banana leaf and season the fillets with salt, garlic powder, and lime juice and set aside. Top the fish fillets with red bell pepper, jalapeño, cilantro and lime.

  4. Fold the banana leaves over the fish fillets, forming a packet and place the packets in the air fryer and bake them for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.

  5. While the fish is cooking prepare you guacamole. Cut the avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Mash the avocado in a bowl with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency.

  6. Add the onions, jalapeño, cilantro to the bowl. Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

  7. Remove the baking sheet from the air fryer and carefully open the packets. Be careful of the steam that will be released.
